Bean Share, 6 lbs.

$72.00

Our yearly bean share is an offering of six different varieties, one pound of each, all carefully selected for delicious and unique flavor. Varieties change slightly every year, as we discover new beans that deserve to be shared or revisit old favorites. This year’s varieties include:

  • Rockwell, a white bean with a speckled maroon stripe around the hilum. Perfect for soups, greens and beans, and other deep winter foods. A local heirloom from Whidbey Island and a returning favorite.

  • Borlotto del Valdarno, the classic cranberry bean. Delicate flavor, beautiful coloring, and a reliable producer.

  • Northern Pinto, new to the share this year. A sweet little pinto bean with beautiful brown coloring and a golden mark on the hilum.

  • Lina Sisco’s Bird Egg, a wonderfully round bean in cream with maroon speckles. Smooth, creamy texture. One of the first Seed Savers Exchange varieties. Grown by Ferry Boat Seeds.

  • King City Pink, the little pink bean that remains a family favorite. Sweet, bean-y flavor, perfect for burritos.

  • Black Valentine, our beloved black bean. An heirloom introduced in 1897 by Peter Henderson & Company. Glossy, narrow black beans with a creamy, delicious flavor that is neither meaty nor starchy. First year in the Bean Share!

While we are not organic certified, we grow our crops using organic and ecologically sustainable practices.
